The philosophy of Chartamagna is to combine quality and good price. Many lovers of antiquities approaching our fascinating world are primarily moved by the wish of holding an authentic specimen of an old and rare map or view, often referring to their region of origin or to a place connected with their or their family story. Several of them, however, may feel discouraged because of the objectively considerable costs needed sometimes for purchasing these rarities. It is not surprising: a, say, 400-years-old map, of which only a few specimen exist, cannot be "cheap". To the final cost, however, may contribute heavily repairs and new colouring, whose costs are getting higher and higher. Especially repairs are often performed, because old maps or views are seldom in a "perfect" or "excellent" antiquarian state. But, on the other hand, for many lovers the wish of holding an original map or view may exceed that of having an often too expensive "perfect" specimen. The philosophy of Chartamagna is to combine quality and good price. For this reason we prefer not to spend much effort in performing very expensive repairs when this is avoidable, when, i.e., the improvement reached would be not substantial, but it would lead to a substantial increase of the final price. In this case (which corresponds, however, only to a fraction of the items in our stock) we believe to interpret the wish of most of our clients in offering a "good" map or view at an affordable price.
